Die Regierung der Balearen (Govern de les Illes Balears) hat ein neues Logo bekommen. Das an das Wappen der Balearen angelehnte Logo beinhaltet zugleich ein komplettes Logosystem. Ein Umstand, der gerne von denjenigen unbemerkt bleibt, die Kritik in erster Linie an den Kosten für ein solches Signet üben.
Mit gerade einmal 9.000 Euro fallen die Kosten für die Erstellung des neuen Logosystems, zu dem auch ein entsprechendes CD-Manual gehört, vergleichsweise gering aus. Wie es in einer Erklärung seitens der Balearen-Regierung auf Facebook heißt, würden mit Hilfe des nunmehr nur noch zweifarbigen Signets Druckkosten gespart. 40 Prozent der Kosten will man auf diese Weise einsparen. Ungeachtet dessen wird das Vorgehen der Regierung von einigen Mallorquinern kritisiert. Zu unrecht, wie ich meine.

You all are absolutely right. When we won the public contest, we thought that we needed to learn so much about all the signs, history and other facts. I am a practitioner of ‘Transition Design’ and that led me to a point to do 3 analysis before to start. The first, and the most related to your questions was the historical analysis, so we started designing my own team, selecting the parts/specialists to do the best for the biggest citizenry. I decided to have an expert in that area, Mr. Felipe Lorenzo did all the research that the books and other media could give us. The conclusion was clear, he pointed out some points to solve, one of the most related with heraldic ones was that, in the past governments, it seemed to play to mix the 3 powers (Executive, Legislative, Judicial) when 2 of them need to be independent from politics. Actually blue, red and yellow colours are supposed to be the colours of the crown and flag of the county, but they have little to say over the Executive. In other words, as the White House does it has nothing to do with the USA flag or its Eagle. That is what we tried to point out the lack of democracy here, a government has its own option to have their own sign independently to the flag of the county or country, that is bigger in terms of identity (it contains more parties, cultures and opinions).
